EPS Machine
EPS machine, short for Expanded Polystyrene machine, is industrial equipment used to produce foam products commonly known as Styrofoam. It processes raw polystyrene beads through heating, pre-expansion, molding, cooling and demolding, turning small pellets into lightweight, shockproof and heat-insulating foam parts.
There are several main types, including EPS pre-expanders, EPS block molding machines, EPS shape molding machines, EPS hot wire cutting machine, EPS molds and EPS recycling machines. With advantages of low cost, high moldability and good protection performance, EPS machines are widely applied in packaging, construction, cold-chain logistics, sports equipment and other fields.
Modern EPS machines feature automated control and energy-saving designs, supporting efficient mass production and foam recycling, making them essential equipment in modern manufacturing.
What is EPS Machine?
EPS machines are industrial systems designed to manufacture products from Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), lightweight, rigid, closed‑cell foam made from expandable polystyrene beads. These machines turn small plastic beads into protective packaging, insulation panels, construction components, and custom molded parts using steam, heat, pressure, and precision molds. Widely used across packaging, building, automotive, and logistics, EPS machinery balances low cost, high efficiency, and material versatility.
The flowchart of EPS foam production

EPS production follows a consistent, steam‑driven workflow:
Pre‑expansion: Raw polystyrene beads (infused with a pentane blowing agent) are heated with steam in a pre‑expander, expanding to 20–50 times their original volume.
Aging/stabilization: Expanded beads rest in silos to cool, stabilize, and equalize pressure.
Molding: Beads are loaded into molds; additional steam fuses them into solid blocks or custom shapes.
Cooling & ejection: The mold cools to set the foam, then the finished part is released.
Cutting & finishing: Blocks are cut into sheets, panels, or custom profiles as needed.
Main Types of EPS Machines
1. EPS Pre‑Expanders
The foundational machine that controls bead density and expansion quality. Available in batch or continuous models, they regulate steam pressure and temperature to produce consistent lightweight beads for packaging or denser beads for structural insulation.
2. EPS Block Molding Machines
Produce large, solid EPS blocks for insulation boards, road embankments, and structural fill. They use big, rectangular molds and automated filling, steaming, cooling, and ejection cycles.
3. EPS Shape Molding Machines
Create custom 3D parts like protective packaging inserts, helmet liners, automotive components, and decorative elements. They use precision aluminum/steel molds and support high‑mix, low‑volume to mass production.
4. EPS Cutting Machines
Include hot‑wire, CNC, and hot‑knife models to slice blocks into sheets, strips, or intricate shapes with tight dimensional accuracy. CNC cutting enables complex profiles for architecture and custom packaging.
5. EPS Recycling Equipment
EPS recyclers reduce foam volume by up to 90–95% for transport and reuse. Cold‑press compactors use mechanical pressure; hot‑melt machines melt foam into dense ingots for re‑pelletizing and reuse in new products.
6. Auxiliary Systems for EPS foam production line
Steam boiler, steam tank, air compressor, air tank, cooling tower, recycling pump are essential equipments to support an EPS foam production line.
